Medial Cannabis and Cold Weather

This Michigan weather sucks. It is something we all complain about, but it is the truth. As I write this it is snowing outside. At the tail end of April. Yesterday it was 66 degrees and sunny. Surely we have a case to claim the worst weather in the country. For me, the weather causes serious health effects, which I tend to treat with my medical marijuana.

Here is my story about the weather and how marijuana actually helps me.

In Michigan we all know that the weather is unpredictable. It has been said that our state can experience all four seasons in one day. That is the truth. During one day last week I saw the weather start out cold and snowy, warm up to sunny and 60 degrees, and eventually cool down to about 40 with heavy rain. There is no doubt that the weather is unpredictable and plays mind games with us.

Unfortunately for me, the cold weather causes me to stiffen up. Being diagnosed with Primary Lateral Sclerosis, I am susceptible to getting stiff and being immobilized by the simplest things. The cold is one of these things that makes me seize up. I also tend to get back spasms for some reason when it gets really cold out.

I have gone out and found that smoking medical cannabis gets me to loosen up, especially in the cold weather. I usually eat a special brownie or rice krispie treat and end up burying myself in a set of blankets.

Within about an hour I begin feeling affected by the cannabis. Another half hour after that I can feel my muscles lightening up. I end up getting much more relaxed and start feeling a lot better. A hot bath while I am on my medicine also helps.

The downside to all of this is the fact that I end up having to use more marijuana to treat my symptoms in cold weather. It is a trade off that I will thankfully take though, as I have fallen and gotten back spasms during cold weather.

I don’t know if I can take it much longer. Perhaps I will have to move to Florida or the Bahamas to get out of all of this close weather. 🙂
