This year I participated in my first ever Hash Bash down in Ann Arbor. For those not in the know, Hash Bash is an annual marijuana festival held down in Ann Arbor on the campus of the University of Michigan. The festival began in 1972 and has grown in popularity ever since.
Those coming to Hash Bash can expect music, food, speeches, and of course, loads of cannabis.
Having some of the loosest marijuana laws in the country, smokers in marijuana are able to come down without the risk of facing major jail time. One participant told me that in Ann Arbor, being caught smoking is a $25 for the first offense, $50 for the second offense, and $100 for the third offense.
Let me tell you that there were a lot of people smoking there, and it was an amazing time.
Vendors lined the street ways, and I was able to look at some of the most exquisite pipes and bongs I have ever seen. I even managed to pick up a new and improved vaporizer that will enable me to get more of the healing component of my cannabis than I was before. Total cost: $110, a steal over what I was seeing online.
I also was privy to some very cool information regarding our state’s medical cannabis laws. Needless to say, I would not have known everything that was available if not for the advocacy groups at Hash Bash.
Music and entertainment was also abundant at Hash Bash 2013, with Bizarre from the Detroit based rap group D12 making an appearance and really sparking the place up!
All in all I have to say that I was curious to know what the big fuss was with Hash Bash. After attending this year I can totally see what everybody gets all excited about.
Great speeches, good food, excellent bands, and lots of great people really make this event worth going to. I can say that I will be sure to attend Hash Bash as long as I am able to still get down there.
